MODS vs ROCKERS!

TAG on Wed.
Thursday is public holiday.
Winky

Odin spinning too! (i’m looking at the reasons i’m going!)

Come. Happs. Party. Drink.

Okay.

I is tipsy now. Should shut up.

I like Ben de Lisi.
One day, i will be more famous then him.
Not because of the fame thing, no!
But of what you do.
Okay, i should shut up now.
I is tipsy.

Happy Birthday Maarten!

‘Twas Maarten’s birthday, and i asked him what was his birthday wish just before i hurriedly went offline.
He sent me this:

Maarten

So i’m layaning and posting it up Laughing

*past entries with Maarten*

************

Bumped into Poovan again at Stylo tonight
“How’s everything?” i asked.
Dude was working for the event.
“I miss my wife…”
“AW SO SWEET!” i grinned back.

Then i came home and read their baby’s blog.
Damn cute wei.

*Forget Stylo, Go Jimilo!*

*Jimilo instead of Stylo*

Dude… you missed your kid’s birthday?
Whiplash from the lady haha!!!

Stylo Fashion Fest Launch

I’s already going for Stylo for my publication, but after blogging about it earlier last week, the PR company sent me invites to go.
Sweet.
Laughing
Thank you.

So many unworn things in my closet yet able to look into it thinking, “I have nothing to wear…”

As SarChan would put it - Epic fail.
(she wrote a bit about Sunburst, you can go read ;) Kevin confirm will blog about that, so need no mention :D)

Finally decided to keep it simple (read: running late) and grabbed at a blue dress by some Thai designer i hadn’t worn yet.

While waiting for SluttyShah to arrive. He be my VIP.

Stylo Fashion Festival Launch

I was afraid of being late cos i know it’s damn shy to walk into a fashion show late… but we weren’t at all, everyone was waiting for the Queen to arrive, i think.

They had heaps of Shu Uemura eyelashes on display and i ran to see whether they had new ones.
They do! These feathery grey ones with white spots on them. I have the older version with the small spots, but not these ones! Come to think of it, i haven’t worn those yet. One day i’ll take pics of my eyelash collection.

*bimbo grin*

It’s interesting seeing what everyone’s get up is like.
There were the superformals, the bling and silky, the rock funky (didn’t see much of that), the preppy, some overdoing it, and some basically losing the plot.

“That’s so last season!”
“… Don’t be so judgmental! Die la liddat.”

I saw these three guys who were so cool though.
So cool i have to talk about them.

They sat with their backs against the wall, all in black-rimmed glasses, with either fringes or hats.

“Eh Shah… siapa tu? They look so awesome!”
“Where?”
“Our eleven o’clock.”
“Eh, yeah la… dunno.”

My favourite was the one in the middle, with his superlapsapcontrasting pink and canary pants. He had this really blur look which i found charming. It’s like, guys with that blur expression look like they need to be pounced upon. And ravaged.
Okay i’m being stalker-ish, i’ll stop.

Will Quah was emceeing and we were well bowled over by all the Malay formalities he had to spurt in presence of the Queen. You know, like Yang something something and it goes on and on for eons.

“How long do you think he took to memorize that?!”
“… dude, if you paid me the same, i would sit my ass down and memorize it all day as well!”

Melinda Looi’s show was fantastic, and we were super impressed with how it went soundly with the music.

The first collection was my favourite amongst the three.
Quirky and whimsical with dashes of aliceinwonderland and teaparty bubbliness.

Mell slipped and fell over on the stage, bringing upon a collective gasp from the audience.

“Oh crap…”
“Aiyo kesian, somemore she’s pregnant!”

After the show, everyone was ushered to the after-party venue.
These stilt-walkers showed us the way and SluttyShah didn’t like them cos they scared him. Heh.

See the light on the wall? It’s a boobie!
The deco in the place was pretty cool, mannequins hanging from the ceiling, their ‘dresses’ serving as lights.
Toilet bowls as seats as well which i didn’t get at first till we just contended ourselves that, “Oh, bathroom… nekkid… right.”

Went to Twentyone after that to meet up with TattleShan.

The 21 guys gave Shan the table across the DJ (Victor G was spinning that night) even though she said there’re only a few of us.

Hence a lot of space for me to shamelessly lie around in.

QueenKanch and her sis Shal came to join us, then i got dragged home by the man (yeah, i guess he’ll just be know as the man now. DM leaves a bad aftertaste in my mouth after all that rubbish drama) before i got made to drink more. Those martinis can kill, man.

We were having this debate about Maggi Mee and how much i think it rocks whereas he thinks otherwise.
Then as we were walking out of 21, i went up to the girl at the counter asking, “Do you like Maggi?!”

Lagi kena dragged off.

“The girl looked damn scared okay! My sister and i died laughing,” said Kanch.
“Aiyo fuck… better go say sorry next time >.<”

I still think Maggi rocks.
Who can not like Maggi?!

Wait yar.

I uploaded pics to blog about the weekend, but i got distracted clicking on Malaysian Dreamgirl.
I’m just watching the second episode and i died laughing watching this part when they were asking a contestant what’s her favourite food.

Girl: Susi (i was like, huh? what? susu? susi? is this some… restaurant i don’t know…)
Judges: *all* What..?
Girl: Susi…
Judge Kenny: Susi?
Girl: Yes.
Judges: Sushi? Japanese sushi?
Girl: Yes.

Elaine put her head on the table laughing.

Okay i want to watch Alison and Ringo in action. Will blog later.

Here. Entertain yourself with a picture of Mr. Dragonfly #493 in my garden!

BzzZZz… BZZT!

“Oh, tish tosh, human.”

Fairy Transport.

We had a nice chat. Then i had to run out for event. He called me a snob. I said, hey look, you’re the one in my garden. Then he launched into a tirade on how land is every living thing’s property. I was all, whoa, you don’t understand how people deal with stuff here. He said we’re not done with our conversation yet, but it’s been raining so i haven’t seen him since then.

********************

Okay i finished watching Malaysian Dreamgirl till Episode 4.
Can’t believe i spent my time watching it -_-

I think Alison and Jay are the better spoken ones amongst the 12.
And they’re both hot, so i was thinking, “Man… these indians really have it la. Hot, got booty, and indians are always funnier.”
Prollie won’t comment too much on Alison cos i’m bias and i think she’s hilarious and smart anyway.

CheesieRingo… can see some of the girls aren’t happy she’s back in the show cos she’s a blogger.
The way i see it, the show’s aired online. So obviously the tv station wanted to get her back in for additional coverage of it, kan?
Marketing wut.
But i must admit i don’t fancy her on tv… she’s a genuine sweetheart and pretty but her tv presence has to be improved tremendously la.

I like Jean. She doesn’t speak with a (fake) accent whatsoever and there were some things she said which made me warm to her.

Valerie’s pretty cool too. Def more spunk then most of them.

There’s one girl who said she’d be perfect modeling for Victoria’s Secret, or something like that.
I was like, are you fucking kidding me?
At least say la something more down to earth like Coke or Canon or something.
Can die wei hear some of these answers.

Then there was another one was super whiny and crying.

The others i don’t remember cos nothing much.

Friends aside, my favourite contestant is:

Hanis, Malaysian Dreamgirl

Hanis Winky

She’s the youngest of the lot at 18, but i feel the way she presents herself isn’t pretentious. Yeah, some are complaining she’s manja and shit, but i think she’s damn adorable la.

Go Hanis!

Walau, who would’ve thought i’d get into this Malaysian Dreamgirl thing?

-_-

They’d Better Get Bomohs.

I’m not going for Sunburst today, but i’m wondering whether it’s going to rain as there’ve been showers every day of late.

Went for Colbie’s showcase yesterday but it was so packed, we decided to forgo the passes and window-shopped instead.
I ended up with a black canvas Jim Thompson bag (on sale!) with colourful fishies on it.
Perfect for chucking notebooks and brollie into for work.

Went to Zouk for the Timeout (pre-launch?), their first issue is for April and i’m on the cover.
Shy
RowdyRudy said i look like an anime character.
QueenKanch said i look like a baby alien -_-
I’m… not used to seeing my face on boards, the screens inside and things.
It’s exciting and cool, definitely!
All the Zouk bouncers were saying how cute i look >.<

Hung with Ash, Kanch, Fai, my bro, and Fai’s banker boys in Velvet for a while before running off to Mansion for DatinTini’s birthday.
That was a must-go.
She kept on saying thank you for coming (drunkard! but she’s allowed) and i was like, “You crazy, woman. Shut it!”

Zouk was pretty empty at first even though the S-man was spinning last night but it filled up after midnight.
The other two weren’t packed as well, think it was due to the rumours of riots, hence heaps of police around different areas.
Heard there was a bomb scare in KLCC yesterday as well.

AHR wasn’t as crazy packed as it usually is on weekends.
Mansion was pretty damn crowded tho!

Saw most of my ex-colleagues and we all launched into ‘i miss yous’ and catching up.
Then drank and Lam went all emo on me saying they never regretted hiring me, but too bad i had to leave, and they know i’m happier where i am now and they’re happy for me. Emo sial. But nice la. Damn long never talk to the fellow.
I sayang Lam Kiss

Then this good-looking white chap (who was introduced to us a bit earlier) took Lam’s glass, poured its contents away on the carpet.
“That dude just poured my drink away -_-”  said Lam.
“What..! That’s damn rude.”

The guy saw us looking down at the table and asked whether it was our glass.
Lam said yes.
The guy said he was looking for an empty glass.

Whatevah

I was just getting annoyed because first of all, i have this personal vendetta against white dudes who come into kl and think they can do whatever they want in clubs and get away with it. Secondly, he’s also pretty cute. And er, i usually put hot dudes down to idiocy till proven innocent. Sorry, it’s unfair and shit but that’s just how my mind ticks. And his actions so weren’t helping his case. The only side he did have on his case was he was DikHaHaHau’s friend and i trust him to hang out with fly folk.
Because i’m not working in my previous position anymore, i don’t have to maintain superPRface with people and i told Lam so.

“Well,” i said unsmilingly to white dude, “You just poured his drink unto the floor. -_- “
He apologised.
I was like, er, okay, so? Do something about it -_-
He apologised and offered to buy us drinks.
I said dunnit la, and it’s okay, apology accepted, malas to layan already.
He asked whether we’re okay with cranberry vodka, then he ran off.
And benar-benar came back with drinks for us.
We said thank you.

And i thought, well, he did act courteously for a clubbing faux pas he made.
Guess next time i meet DikHaHaHau’s friends, got chop of approval straight away :p

Guinness + St Patrick’s Day

advertorial

St. Patrick’s Day is almost upon us and despite the popularity of its celebration not widespread amongst Malaysians, you can’t deny being constantly reminded of it by all these ads Guinness has been circulating.

When someone mentions St. Patrick’s Day, images of leprechauns and four-leaved clovers spring to mind.
Silly
I happened to be in Edinburgh on this particular day in 2001, and i didn’t know what was going on.
People were yelling and laughing and going “Cheers!” to people passing the pubs.
Guys were racing around carrying flags on their backs and whooping away (rugby i think)
Younger ones were running down the street, wearing tall silly hats.
And drinking. A lot of drinking.

“What’s going on..!?” i asked my friends who’re all from there.
“It’s St. Patrick’s Day. I guess you don’t celebrate it back home…”

I remember partying like crazy with them.
But those people don’t need a celebration/excuse to party at any rate.

Because Guinness also has a rich heritage dating back 250 years, it has somehow become synonymous with the holiday (appearing in my reading up about it, even on bbc.co.uk!)

In conjunction with the holiday this year, Guinness appointed celebrity chef Emmanuel Stroobant to infuse Guinness with cuisine. The main man for Chef in Black demonstrated the versatility of Guinness not just as a beverage, but also it’s ability in playing a key role in dishes.

“Guinness Draught has such a rich and distinctive flavour that goes well with almost anything, although my personal favourite is rack of lamb glazed with some Guinness. Simply succulent and distinctly Guinness.”
- Emmanuel Stroobant

Of course, seeing that not all of us are fortunate to get him as a personal chef (even for half an hour!) you can still treat yourself to a bite of Guinness-inspired food at six participating bars and outlets in Klang Valley throughout the whole month of March, woo hoo!

Sorry to those living elsewhere, next time Winky

Jarrod & Rawlins on Jalan Dungun are one of the six outlets, and i was just there with LaughingLoga two weeks back (but the promotion hadn’t started yet).
I had a prawn avocado sandwich, streaky bacon and Guinness Draught.
He had dynamite sausages and… i forgot Shy (cos i only nicked his dynamite sausages).

Last Tuesday, i drove there with new KLue writer, Priya, who thankfully showed me directions even though she just got back from New York and i really should be the one who’s not such a lost mouse.

Guinness + Jarrod & Rawlins

Our drink orders were taken and someone said, “You don’t have to have Guinness if you don’t want to…”

Oh dude. You have no idea how often i drink Guinness Draught.

Chorizo, salami, mushrooms + peppers.

I didn’t even have to be surprised at what i ate there cos i’ve been going to Jarrod & Rawlins ever since they opened their first outlet in Hartamas and it has always been a preferred restaurant for me to catch up with friends.
If i want something heavy, i’d go for their pies, mash or steaks. Medium rare, please.
If i want something light, i’d go for their sandwiches (prawn avocado, mmm)
And i always wash it down with either shiraz or Guinness Draught.

Guinness + Jarrod & Rawlins

Serrano ham (below), king island cheddar, feta, and peppers stuffed with feta.

Guinness + Jarrod & Rawlins

All the appetizers complimented the Guinness Draught, and we couldn’t stop going, “Mmm…”
Priya doesn’t even fancy peppers but she ended up with one in her mouth!

Then came the lamb ribs, which are the Guinness promotion specialty.

Grilled Iberian pork ribs and crumbed pork pattie served with caramelized Guinness mustard glaze, dried cherry tomato, butter mashed beetroot, yogurt and sautée arugula (like rocket).

RM62++

It was fantastic.

Initially i was trying to maintain and cut the meat off with my knife and fork, but after a while, i decided to screw the idea and delicately held it with my fingers to gnaw on.
I couldn’t help it. The ribs would be insulted if i pathetically tried in vain to eat it.
That’s the way ribs are meant to be eaten *crosses arms and nods sagely*

When i asked chef Jacob how he found cooking with Guinness, he replied, “Certain people find it difficult to work with Guinness but i’m fine with it, it’s my first time working it with pork but it works!”

If this has piqued your interest, you can go to these outlets to try their Guinness dishes there:
(plus: you can also redeem limited edition Guinness St. Patrick’s Day merchandise when you order Guinness Draught at these participating outlets)
