That line is my bad-habit drunk-tweeting for the past few nights here!
Have finally achieved more friends than i can count on two hands here
But it HAD to be the week before i return to KL.
My old friend from college times, Way Sern, flew in on Saturday,
so i’ve been layaning taking him out to where i think he should go / visit.
I’m super tired cos there’s just so many things to do at night as well as during the day.
The fellow damn cannot make it when he shops tho,
3 hours and he complains of foot pain -_-
Tomorrow is my last full day in Bangkok.
But i think i’ll come back end of Jan
I wanna research some sweet suit designs and get one tailor-made,
plus i gotta carry home the Christmas tree cos QueenKanch doesn’t wanna keep it.
A few weeks ago, i was invited to speak on a panel discussion at an HP event
and to my utter delight,
the date happened to be scheduled perfectly during the time i was to be back in KL for the MINDstyle LIFEstyle event!
Talk about the Universe lining up things for me
Landing in KL at 3:10pm on Wednesday,
I was supposed to be at Rootz at 5:30pm for briefing,
and had a horrible feeling there’s no way i can make it at stipulated time,
so i emailed Nuffnang to tell them i would most probably be late.
And i was.
By the time i got through immigration and customs it was 4:30pm.
By the time i got through the 50-minute taxi ride home not including traffic, it was 5:45pm.
BigDavid (from Nuffnang): Can you come straight? Me: Are you kidding me… i look like utter shit right now! And i have this allergic reaction on my face so i really MUST put on make up!
BigDavid: No la, you always look good! Me: David. I look like a peeling monster. It’s unacceptable.
BigDavid: Ok ok, just get here as fast as you can…
Poor fellow smsing me on my constant whereabouts and ETA.
It was jammed all the way from Jalan Duta to Jalan Bukit Bintang,
and i managed to reach the venue at 7pm sharp (time event starts).
Rushing in, i was quite relieved to see that no one was as kancheong as David and i -_-’
and i wasn’t the last to arrive.
Mr I’m-More-Fashionably-Late-Than-You-Joyce-Wong aka Kenny Sia‘s flight landed later than mine,
and he had to rush straight from the airport.
If you haven’t already heard of this event, you must be wondering what IS THIS
that even Kenny Sia was being flown in for it.
Called Future Is, HP partners with Microsoft to bring together young influencers
to discuss the future of anything from technology to design, and fashion to environment.
The 5 influencers they invited were:
- Jojo Struys – TV host/celeb
- RedMummy – parenting
- ThatGirlCynthia – student
- Kenny Sia - because he’s just so femes technology
- KinkyBlueFairy (ME ) - fashion + design
Even though they categorized us to show we’re from different lifestyles,
it didn’t really matter cos we all ended up answering questions for all of them anyway!
Will Quah emceed the event,
whom i must say was entertainingly cheeky (esp. to Kenny!)
This is Danny Lee.
He be the Country GM of Personal Systems Group, HP Malaysia.
He also be the person who made me drink more, and found my car (i couldn’t find it after the event -_-).
And saw me trip on my high heels and fall. Super -_-
This be me looking like a cartoon.
I think i must have been a cartoon character in my past life.
Every time i look at event pictures, i wonder why i look… like an animated character.
To be honest, at first i wasn’t sure how the discussion would go,
whether it would be boring,
whether we would run out of things to say, etc.
It went as well as i could have wished for!
I actually had so much fun yakking with them 4 on stage that i didn’t even *think* about how much time we had left.
I even raised my hand to answer some questions i wasn’t delegated, just because i wanted to speak up!
Such a teacher’s pet wahaha
Because my memory is horrible and i’ll prollie mix everyone else’s answers up,
i’m just gonna note down some things i said.
Q: How would your notebook function, look, and feel – five years from now?
Seeing we were asked to go all out and be creative,
i said that seeing we now use two hands to type on notebooks that are getting lighter and smaller,
who knows, maybe in 5 years time we’ll have a laptop that can be affixed to one hand so we can walk around while doing other stuff.
Because time is money yo. (I didn’t say the ‘yo’ obviously :p)
Q: What do you think is the single most amazing technology innovation ever introduced to mankind?
At first i was thinking the obvious answer is the internet. Then they told us we couldn’t say that 0_o
Macam social exam okay, thinking what to say so you won’t sound stupid in public.
I came up with two answers i liked but told Will i’d only say one. “You can say both!” “Nah, it’s okay, i don’t think everyone would be interested in my second answer… so i’ll just say one.”
“Okay, what is it.”
I said teleportation.
Will then urged me to also state my second answer and i spoke about the new telescope that’s invented, how much more we would know about ourselves, other planets and life.
After babbling a bit too fast and excitedly for a while (i’m NOT sorry i LOVE THE UNIVERSE OK!), i realised the room had gone rather quiet, not knowing how to react to my statements >.<
So i laughed it off going, “See! I told you people wouldn’t be interested..!”
I can’t remember anything else i said worth mentioning here except for how a scientist invented a machine (although a bit slow for now) that lets him Tweet by thinking.
All in all, i had a lot of fun hearing everyone else’s answers,
pitching in my own,
and judging from the crowd,
they didn’t look bored at all either!
Besides the panel discussion that was held,
the event also launched Blog A Trend – an online initiative that’s taking place across four countries (China, Korea, Singapore + Malaysia).
This contest challenges the online community of bloggers, thinkers and budding futurists to predict a trend;
and they’ll all be competing to be the winner of Blog A Trend in their country!

+ + All dresses sold out already except Fairy Wild + +
This is probably the third time i’m selling something online.
Truth is never really bothered much… cos it’s time-consuming,
there are so many blogshops around,
and the $ is not much.
And to be honest, i can’t help but calculate how many hours i’d spend on selling it,
but the $ isn’t worth it to me
Time is money! (Time is also happiness that money can’t buy
So take this as a present from KinkyBlueFairy,
cos i’m not going to do this again for a long time!
The dresses below are of good quality (material and stitching).
All materiel is thick (not al cheapo stuff) and stretchy
Fairy Wild
A dress for the more daring. Don’t know how many of you would actually order this so we’ll see!
Two colours available: Brown and Gray
RM85 each and would fit Sizes UK6-10 (You can see in the picture it’s slightly loose on me, i’m a size 8
I went to the SKII counter at Gardens Midvalley last week for a skin consultation session.
This be me telling Christina my lifestyle of staying up late, drinking, and partying
Horrific for my skin, i know.
I’m super lucky i have such clear skin despite occasionally falling asleep with my make up on >.<
Christina asked what products i’m currently using, including whether i use eye cream.
I sheepishly answered that i always forget to use my eye cream.
However, QueenKanch did mention to me yesterday that my under eye lines have reduced
(woman was the first person to point out my lines last time -_-)
and i think because it’s lack of stress
Christina then shared some of the SK-II star products with me and I tested out some of the products, including the legendary Miracle water.
Then we went to the SK-II machine, know as the VISA machine, which uses light to detect your skin’s condition at depth for a thorough understanding of your skin ad products suited for it.
That’s me looking slightly skeptical.
I really must learn to stop frowning unintentionally…
(Got it from my father :p) It’ll give me more lines!
Was asked to shut my eyes during the process where the light flashes brightly.
During then, my mind wandered to WHAT IF i opened my eyes, would i go blind? Would it be painful? Would i sue SK-II?
Ok crazy ramble over.
It was really cool, i must say.
The machine photographed my skin to detect the damage on
- UV spots
- brown spots
- pores
- wrinkles
- texture
and the damage area on my cheeks were highlighted
I got 99% for ‘Wrinkles’ and ‘Texture’
and was told that means i’m in the top 1% for skin condition
But got 97% for ‘Pores’, so gotta work on that somehow
After that, another small machine known as the skin phone was used to lightly clip my skin to test elasticity and wrinkles, measured in SPQ levels.
Conclusion:
My skin is kinda dry so really must put more effort in hydrating masks
to retain its condition.
There really is no such thing as turning back time,
so the best is to maintain what i have now!
I’m facing reality here.
I’m 26 and my skin is gonna go downhill all the way if i don’t take care of it!
I left with some samples of SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion (toner)
& Facial Treatment Essence (which i dab on before i apply moisturizer) to try.
Been putting it on diligently every day in Bangkok,
and i’m waiting to see the miracle that every one talks about happen.
Pitera, the substance found in SK-II products, are the stuff of LEGEND.
Did you know: Pitera was first discovered when they noticed how the hands of sake brewery workers were extraordinarily soft and youthful, despite their faces (due to being elderly) had pronounced wrinkles. After a series of experiments, skincare scientists discovered the secret – Pitera – a clear, nutrient-rich liquid.
Pitera is known to help adjust the skin’s rhythm, replenish and retain moisture, tone skin texture, adjust pH levels, control the generation of dark spots, soothe sunburned skin and helps control the secretion of sebum.
If you’re curious, go get your skin photographed at the SK-II counter!
This is me attempting to cook after we came back from Pak Chong two weekends ago
(that in itself is another long post… so many nice countryside pix!)
QueenKanch and my seats.
Can you see our mugs?
The hotel has one black and one cream.
The first time i poured water for us, i chirped, “Black one for the indian girl! And white one for the chinese girl! “
This was the meal that gave me that horrible allergic reaction cos (according to Kanch’s suspicions) had high boric acid in the noodles.
I simply said that i was allergic to my own cooking.
My nose and mouth flared up, went red in patches and got really itchy.
The next day about 14 pimples of pus (i KID YOU NOT) broke out on my nose,
and everything else around it was really dry and painful.
+ + +
“So what? I have one too. And it’s pink. Your favourite colour.”
On another night, Steph was really nice to cook dinner for a small group of us.
Home-cooked food! And obviously better than mine!
Dahlia has phases of constantly wearing a particular costume every day.
Before i arrived in Bangkok, QueenKanch said it was a Princess Jasmine costume.
Now it’s a ballerina one.
She doesn’t really like posing for the camera.
I really respect child + animal photographers man!
I have no patience.
I’d rather photograph something that’s still and i can maneuver around as much as i want.
Like food.
Or a room / architectural.
Dahlia was showing off an orange balloon she had to us.
And i was like, so what Dahlia, *i* have a balloon too okay.
She was like, whatever, you’re bluffing.
And i said, “Fine, i’ll SHOW you, just you wait!”
I ran across the corridor to our suite,
and came back with a pink balloon.
I must say i was rather pleased her mouth opened slightly in shock.
Whereas i had to answer questions from the adults on why i had a pink balloon in my bag in the first place

A couple of random pictures from shopping
There are just way too many to put up
Bought heaps of colourful accessories made from the craziest items from Anything Air in Chatuchak market.
Dahlia gleefully found them when she came over to bug us,
and pushed them all into a pile;
while i bit my lip and tried to act my age and not take them away from her.
Vintage rings made from glass and steel.
It’s not that cheap, as the workmanship is good and the glass is welded to the bands instead of glue.

Sirocco
FaiTheMai and Aps were in Bangkok last weekend as well,
so us 4 went to Sirocco for pre-clubbing drinks.
The view was phenomenal and i loved how i could see the skyline curve slightly.

I Want To Shoot Uppity Kwailo Men
Last night, ClaudiaOnCrack came to meet me for drinks.
We went to this Irish pub across the Emporium,
and i was relieved to finally get some Guinness into my system!
There was this young guy called Marcos who made friends with us / tried to pick us up.
And there was also this annoying man in his 40s who pressed my Annoyance Buttons.
He commented in a rather uppity manner on my hair and our dressing.
Claudia so kiut, “What’s wrong with our dressing?” while looking down
He even asked us why we were drinking Guinness cos only men drink it.
Seriously. What a chauvinist!
Then he said he bets we don’t work and who is he to judge what i do for money, or anyone for that matter?
ClaudiaOnCrack than heard him putting down people in ASEAN countries or something like that,
and she retorted, “Well, *we’re* from an ASEAN country.”
After he found out we’re from Malaysia, he said Malaysia and Singapore are okay but not the others.
-_- Want to pour my drink on him also don’t wanna waste my Guinness *ptui*
I told him, “I think you’re very rude. Go talk to your friend over there. My friend and i are going to stand over here and drink.”
ClaudiaOnCrack and i then moved 2 feet away from him (no space la!)
“Don’t worry Clouds, i’ll take care of you!” i whispered “I’ll take care of you too Joyce!” “Now if only Didi were here…”
“Yeah! She’d have our backs!”
The man was still staring at me, then came up to say he’s not rude, but straightforward, and that he’s like that when sober as well.
I said he may see it as straightforward, but i still think him rude, and just as bad if he’s like that when sober.
At one point i was thinking if i get into a fight with him, he’d probably win cos he’s so big and fat.
One slap and i’ll fly.
I really can’t stand these kind of kwailo men who come to SEA and judge and criticize everything.
Really. Cannot. Tahan.
If don’t like, don’t come la, chauvinist ass.
I want to buy a BB gun like Claudia so i can shoot people and run away like a 10-year-old.
Anyway ClaudiaOnCrack and i shifted venue to drink vodka back at Emporium
and i put Lion King on
Poor Kanch had to come back to two drunk kids.
An hour later, Clouds and i grabbed a taxi and met up with Shan + her friends at Four Seasons.
I barely remember our conversation -_- but i KNOW we had fun
ClaudiaOnCrack is damn lucky and spoilt in BKK!
She had her ride – chauffeur-driven Merc – drop us both home.
This was the point i found QueenKanch going to bed,
and tipsily demanded she spend bonding time with me.

Lucid Dreamer
I’ve been having lots of crazy colourful dreams, more than usual, of recent.
At times, i’m even able to realize i’m dreaming, just like i used to do when i was a kid!
I love those dreams, cos i can do ANYTHING i want.
The last time it happened, i flew all over the world,
and even swooped up close to a leaf just to look at it
(and i can still remember everything! SO AWESOME)
I’m even conscious enough to think - “This dream is SO AMAZING, i must tell Kanch about it when i wake up!”
Isn’t that amazing?!
I’m so happy i’m able to do it again!
The last time i could do it was when i was around ten!
Even during dreams which aren’t purely lucid,
they’re still very colourful and i can remember everything.
I even remembered using my BB (yeah, it came with me into my dream) to Tweetpic something
Guess i’ve been Tweeting too much!
Speaking of Tweeting, if you are curious and wanna know my constant updates in Bangkok,
you can follow me at twitter.com/joycethefairy cos i update all the time from my macbook or curve.
If you don’t have internet access on your phone,
you can follow me with Channel [X] ‘s new Tweet via SMS plan.
For as low as RM1 a week, you can follow, or even Tweet yourself
except for pix at Sirocco.
The Olympus Pen doesn’t come with an internal flash,
so i usually bring out my Canon Ixus at night + partying
since it’s smaller and lighter.
Spent hours editing pictures,
and the internet has decided to go REALLY SLOW on me all of a sudden,
so you’ll just have these pix to look at till i add the rest tomorrow!
Cannot tahan, it’s 3:30am and i’ve been trying to sleep earlier in Bangkok
since the sun rises and sets earlier!
+ + +
Wow finally managed to get all the pix up after 2 days -_-
Called hotel guest services yesterday and said i cannot take it anymore.
Well, i didn’t say those words exactly but you get my drift!
This is the first of a few posts on why i went back to KL for 48 hours last week.
One of the events i attended was, I daresay, one of the most exciting events in the KL art scene,
where Michael Lau himself attended the event.
Famed for his designer toys,
HK-based Michael has significant influence on toy manufacturers,
as well as different forms of street culture throughout the world.

Check out this recently uploaded video on the project + behind the scenes shots!
Wow. I think this is the FIRST time EVA i have a somewhat normal picture of Adrian Yap.
In all my other pictures, he usually covers his face with his hand / turns his back on me / looks like rabbit caught in headlights (i was gonna say ‘deer’, but rabbit sounds better) / is intoxicated / has half his face covered with object
First met Sheng when he was doing make up for MAC,
now he freelances
Urm aiyo, just when i thought i did quite good with everyone’s names,
i forget guy on left >.<
Ming + Rahul
I think it’s brilliant that KL has a scene like this now.
We could never call ourselves completely urban before this,
and with the launch of Zinc, plus this exhibition,
i can’t wait to see what else is in store!
