This morning i woke up with remnants of a superb dream!
First of all, i was having a meeting with Victoria Beckham cos she came to *me* for some advice
Then i was swimming alone in really deep sea and accidentally got cut.
When i surfaced, someone asked me to listen closely to the gash on my arm for voices.
Putting my ear close to my left forearm, i heard squeaky voices going, “MJ! MJ! Hee hee! MJ!”
Was so excited, i ran to the next room to let Michael Jackson hear it,
(cos he was so totally my friend) and he laughed at how funny it was.
Then i woke up.
Damn! Talk about a whacky dream!
I know eating burgers before sleeping give you nightmares (i had a bad experience once and woke up thinking i should listen to Jughead more)
but had smoked salmon just before passing out last night,
so that might be the magic trick to crazy dreams.
Will try it agan tonight
Anyway, woke up in Granada this morning.

Spent a long tour at the magnificent Alhambra palace

Below was taken in the women’s palace at Alhambra,
where the King kept his 4 wives and hundreds of concubines.
Must’ve been hell alotta catfights in that vicinity.
Check out the detailing… it’s all carved out of marble.
Crazy.
One story i remember from today’s tour:
The King knew his Queen kept a lover,
and he had 36 suspects.
Because nobody owned up,
he summoned all 36 of them,
and had them slaughtered in the courtyard where some say their blood is still stained in certain places till today.

I was as moody as a cow this morning,
cos it was raining.
And i don’t do well with wet *and* cold;
and taken sightseeing (tho most of what i was seeing was the ground to avoid puddles).

The weather brightened up around lunchtime,
and so did my mood.

Had an epiphany during lunch that over the past few years,
i have evolved to become a fussy eater..!
I think many of us take for granted how we get to eat,
whatever we want to eat,
whever we want.
Or, urm, i do
So when i’m forced to eat a certain dish without choosing from a menu…
(plus food is a 5 out of 10),
i end up gobbling it down real fast like a kid being forced to eat veggies.
(Option to push it away and eat something else not possible.)

Today i visited the third biggest church in the world – the Seville Cathedral
Quick facts:
- It’s highest ceiling/minaret is 38 metres according to tour guide but 43 metres according to Wikipedia
- Has Gothic and Arabic influences
- The remains of Christopher Columbus (what bones remain anyhow) are kept there.
It’s actually the 5th place Columbus’ remains have been kept at after being moved around for centuries.
Daddy joked, “When he was alive he was traveling all around the world. Even after he died it didn’t change!”
Would like to go on and on how beautiful the cathedral is,
but figure pictures in a future post would suffice better!
Also, i feel like i’m giving a history lesson (I LOVE HISTORY)

In the evening, we arrived at Granada,
and spent a great night skipping dinner with the tour group,
to walk around with TigerJoe instead
I bought floral tights, a sequinned bandeau top (on 70% sale) and MAC Shadesticks.
Must admit i was most excited bout the Shadesticks

Ok la, i really gotta sleep.
By the time i shower every night, it’s 10 something pm,
it’s already almost 1am now,
and the morning call is at 6 freaking am -_-

The sky was brilliant blue today,
and i used to look at pictures like the one below
and think how impossibly picture-perfect it is.

I stood in the lane marveling at how
the cloudless blue sky matched the blue door and wall below it so beatifully (no photoshop at all!),
it must’ve been intentional!

knit top; zara
jeans; gap always skinny
boots; bimba & lola
scarf & inner top; bangkok
chainmail necklace; kang (sg)

Above was taken on the way to Cordoba,
whereas at the destination,
i was completely stunned by one of the most magnificent structures i’ve seen in my life.
I’ve visited many churches before (Belgium, Italy, England)
but nothing as grand and with such exquisite detailing every angle i looked -
as the Mezquita/Cathedral of Cordoba.
Quick facts i remember from the tour guide (i was paying attention!)
- dates back to 600AD
- started being built as a basilica, then *the* mosque of the West, then a church again
- up to 32,000 people can pray in there simultaneously (!!!)
- has 43 chapels (i think, i’m too lazy to google now) within the building itself
- pillars, walls, paintings, sculptures, etc, are made of different materiel and design due to various religious and periodic influences
- was the second largest mosque after Mecca

Wish i didn’t go out so early so i could lie on the ground and stare up at the ceiling or something
Would’ve been mad meditation

8-hour flight to Doha,
transited for an hour,
than another 7-hour flight to Madrid;
via Qatar Airways.
Damn.
I’ve forgotten how tiring it is to travel so far,
and resolved NOT to take Air Asia when flying to London in May.
Don’t think i can handle the pain,
and would rather pay a bit extra for the comfort cos for such a long flight,
it’s rather worth it!

Madrid reminds me of Rome,
but with wider streets.
Number of hot ppl are roughly the same

Covering my face cos it was so cold!
I would never maintain this hairstyle if i stayed in Europe…
it just doesn’t make sense / keep me warm!

Gonna crash now cos it took me a ridiculous amount of time trying to post up 3 pictures,
and i’m feeling slightly poorly from all that flying and sightseeing today!
Ciao!

A few new things i got this week
*shuts out cries of YOU HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF*

Full sequined jacket

Silk purple top

Chain fringe necklace + silver studded bowtie!

And a canary necklace Justin got me from HK

+ + + + +
I went to change some RM and SGD to Euros for Spain,
and have to say, i *used* to be good at math,
but now i really suck.
Thank the fairies for my Blackberry
I just surf for the currency converter and let it do the calculating for me,
while waiting for the dude to calculate it on his side
(just so i don’t get conned!)
Since i got my Blackberry, i’ve been using Xpax’s RM2.50 a day plan,
where i get unlimited access to all i need to do using my Blackberry.
Now, it just got better for me cos of a new promo they’re having
By subscribing to the BlackBerry® Advance (2.5G) for RM 2.50 per day plan,
i get free subscriptions on the weekends, after 5 consecutive weekdays of using the plan!
So that means for a week, i only pay RM12.50 for unlimited data use, including push email.
Which also equals to RM50 for 4 weeks.
Quite value kan?

I’ve been telling Yishyene how i’m planning to do Europe for summer,
and she sent me a link of a festival she was thinking of going for: the Isle of Wight festival.
The first one took place in ’69 after Woodstock closed down…
and hey, if i can’t do Woodstock,
maybe this is the next best thing.
I’ve never been to a festival this huge before (with past ones drawing crowds of 50,000 ppl and above)
and just looking at the acts got my heart beating faster
and i was typing IN CAPS TO HER THE WHOLE TIME COS I WAS SO EXCITED.

Blondie! Vampire Weekend! Calvin fucking HARRIS!
The Strokes! Friendly Fires!
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I promised her i’d fly to London,
we’d rent a car and drive there,
sent up some colourful tent and CAMP there,
and she’s such a CHAMP cos she bought our tix yesterday!
It’s 150 quid per person for 3 days
but i don’t care cos this is gonna be an experience of a lifetime.
And highly doubt it will cancel on us like how the acts around here seem to be doing lately (i.e. Rihanna, Killers)
Woohoo!!!
I wasn’t even online when Yishyene bought the tix,
i read it on my Twitter stream last night when i was out.

I think it’s amazing how Twitter has really changed the way we communicate now.
And how fast news spreads before it can hit the newspapers, or even news blogs.
Like today my Dad was telling me: “The Sultan of Johor has passed away.”
Me: I know… i read on Twitter last night.
Aps recently got on Twitter and finally *gets* it
If you want to get on Twitter too,
you can do so on your phone by simple smsing
Just create a Twitter account, then sms <T> to 29800
and it’s set!
For only RM1 a week, you can Tweet from your phone via SMS and follow others as well!
Yesterday i was hanging out with Niki and SmallSerena,
whereupon at one point, Niki was a bit frustrated at the connection on his phone
cos he couldn’t connect to Twitter.
Me: *meekly* “If you Tweeted via sms you wouldn’t be having a problem…
“
Niki:
If you wanna follow me, check it out at twitter.com/joycethefairy
