I’ve scheduled this post to go up while i’m on the plane to London
(cos i’m a good blogger *halo*)
While i was in Singapore for the Audi Fashion Festival,
the tourism board peeps also asked me whether i’d like to check out the new Universal Studios.
I was like, “Hell yeah! Who doesn’t wanna meet Shrek?!”

Everything in there is freaking MASSIVE.
It’s been a long time since i’ve been to any theme park,
with my best memories being Disneyland and Universal Studios in LA when i was 8-years-old.
So memory on how large things around me might be inaccurate cos i was so tiny then!

Don’t the pictures look crazy surreal and bright?!

The penguins were making me laugh,
cos instead of posing with the visitors,
some would run away and hide behind pillars.
Hence scene of: people laughing and chasing after penguins as they dart off.

VIP (Very Important Picture): Beer that is available there!
Price: SGD7 a bottle.

Shrek’s house!

Random nonsensical (which i obviously liked very much!) signboard at Enchanted Airways rollercoaster ride.
It’s recommended for children… and i found myself sitting next to a little girl.
Me: Hi, what’s your name?
Her: Ally
Me: My name is Joyce
How old are you?
Her: Seven
Me:

I love the Donkey show!
And don’t miss Shrek’s 4-D one as well!

Macam boyband kakaka

A shop selling cool hats at about SGD45 and above

I bought the purple one.
Because everyone should have a mad hat stored at the back of their cupboard, just in case.

The ride that’s not open yet
I think if you go to Singapore with anyone, you should go to Universal Studios.
It’s super happifying, and even tho i was by myself, i managed to super layan diri like mad!
I must say tho, that if you’re really into big rollercoaster rides,
wait till they’re all open first, then go!
Tips for when you go to Universal Studios:
- wear sunblock / bring hat cos it’s VERY hot. I was told i got a suntan after that day. And that’s after i slathered on SPF50 too!
- go early and plan a strategy on shows you want to see (timetable and map is available at entrance), with everything else in between. Also less ppl when it’s early so queues are shorter. Trust me, i went thinking i’ll just spend a few hours and leave, but once you’re there, you want to see AS MUCH as you can and the place is pretty big!
- if you like lunchboxes (like me), look out for a certain kiddy meal where you get really cool free gifts when you get meals. i made the mistake of rushing, getting an adult meal and totally regretting it.
- bring lots of water cos it IS that hot!

Wore this out today while Clem and i went to La Bodega to get english breakfast for brunch.
You must be thinking why the heck am i getting an english brekkie in kl, when i’ll be there tomorrow anyway!
I caved in to letting Clem have what he wanted,
since i ate what i wanted for lunch yesterday (Rakuzen)
Went to the bank, dropped by Baci to pick up some clothes (they’ve got lots of new shorts and floral tops in!)

floral top; baci
shorts; h&m
studded bag; bkk
sandals; vincci
watch; nooka @ h5
I really heart the white shorts i got in NY,
’tis super basic and comfortable.

Ok i obviously didn’t wear my sandals properly cos i was lazy >.<
I’m slightly apprehensive of my own willpower when i’m in London…
i’m so afraid i’ll overshop (but when is the time to stop?)
Had to empty this large suitcase (filled with clothes i don’t wear anymore/intend to sell
cos there isn’t enough space in my room) cos i need it to pack for UK.
Clem asked me whether i want some space to keep clothes at his place
(but i hate having some things here, and some things there when i accessorize)
Him: How much space do you need?
Me: The entire room *waves arms along all sides of walls*
I’m gonna have to deal with this lack-of-space thing when i come back…
We said that if things are still going well early next year,
we’ll move in together.
And my only condition is that i get 1 and a half rooms for all my clothes/shoes/accs.

My flight from Dubai-KL was great cos it was pretty empty
so i had 3 seats all to myself by the window
where i could stretch out and sleep contentedly.
Watched some movies on the 40 hours i’ve spent on the plane in the past week:
The Boys Are Back (cried), The Box, The Young Victoria (cried), Leap Year, The Lovely Bones, Avatar (again),
and urm can’t remember what else right now.
Personally really fancied the ones i cried watching
And The Lovely Bones for its trippy beautiful other world scenery.
Landed in KL last night, and spent the rest of the night in resting and catching up with Clem
We watched old Disney cartoons, ate Maggi asam laksa flavour and i couldn’t be happier!
Rushing this weekend to get some last minute things (Yishyene wants me to get her that Super Rings snack -_-)
laundry, repacking and blogposts,
before my flight to London late Sunday night.
Below is a quick post of Sat night a week ago,
when i emceed the Polestars event with Red.FM radio announcer Jeremy Teo
‘Twas my first time meeting Jeremy, and we were making our own private commentary on the side of the stage while watching the competition.
Have to say tho, there were some performances where we both just like, “WOAH.”

Clem and SmallSerena came to watch me

+ + +

What i wore that night >
silver lace top; baci
necklace; justin yap
silver sequin jacket; baci
silver headband; sereni & shentel
sports bra; nike
tube top worn as skirt; bkk
lace leggings; topshop
shoes; yunique paradise
silver metal fringe bag; iconia, jakarta
customized chain harness; norwegian wood
black+gold cuff; deeper n harder

I actually borrowed this necklace from Justin to wear to the Audi Fashion Fest in Singapore,
loved it SO much i ended up buying it after -_-

Sereni & Shentel handmake these exquisite headbands,
some of which have been featured in Malaysia’s Women’s Weekly and Australia’s InStyle.
Originating in Borneo, the girls sent me a couple of headbands which were really easy for me to match with,
hence last minute chucking it on my head before rushing out (as always) that night!
Check out their site at www.sereniandshentel.com
Support Malaysian-made accessories i say!

This was a self-taken picture
While Clem walked around to look for the car
Cos we lost it
For an HOUR
This is why i only go to Sunway Pyramid if i REALLY HAVE TO.

OK! So since i got to NYC, i’ve been squeezing in as much as i can!
Tuesday was mostly events to do with the SATC 2 / HP premiere
At the Millinnium Hotel where i’m staying,
the press conference, activities and meals were carried out on the 8th floor.

There was a photowall (with a very cool-looking globe camera with built-in flash, i might add!)
where all media and guests could take pix ala SATC movie poster background.

We then use the HP TouchSmart to select our pictures, print it, and email to ourselves!

This is mine

me + Myra Widiasana, Asst Managing Editor for Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia
Okay for our first and only shot right, we tried to werq it.

There were lots of areas beautifully set up with fashion items and HP laptops,
so i pottered around to check it out >

The new butterfly design for the HP Vivienne Tam Digital Clutch
was unveiled at the Vivienne Tam Spring 2010 show,
and is proof nowadays we don’t have to compromise on how a laptop looks
as it’s a perfect fusion of high-fashion flavour and high-tech functionality.
Daymn.
I like it much more than the previous season’s design,
and feel my current HP Pavilion one with My Little Pony stickers and shit is so childish now
The new digital clutch is less than an inch thick,
and weighs only 2.7 lbs with 10.1″ HD screen
It’s also got Integrated Beats Audio for premium listening experience,
you can coordinate custom desktop, icons and exclusive wallpapers,
HP QuickWeb to browse, text and chat in seconds,
HP QuickStreamlets to stream your fave media,
Windows® 7 Premium, 2 GB RAM and 5.5 hours battery life.
There are even matching accessories available 0_o
And the screen can turn into a mirror 0_o

Below is the previous season’s runway designs + digital clutch,
all also by HP and Vivienne Tam

I love the way it was laid out, very nicely done!

A panel of speakers to talk about fashion and technology.
I think the person i recognised first was Fern Mallis (2nd from left)
The woman is legend.
She’s responsible for the existence of New York Fashion Week!
At one point she was telling us how years and years ago (before NYFW)
Michael Kors was having a show in an empty loft,
and while the music was playing, bits of plaster fell unto the models and audience,
including Carine Roitfeld’s (if i heard the name right) handbag.
It was then when she was thinking NYC really needed a safe and sound space,
where all designers could show at the same time.
And so came to be the first fashion week on 6th Floor @ Millennium Hotel,
before 1993 onwards in Bryant Park.
Next to Fern is Kimberly Minor (3rd from left),
who explained to us how wedding dress store Priscilla of Boston uses HP TouchSmart for their customers’ convenience.
Brides-to-be can take days, weeks and sometimes months choosing the ‘most important dress in their life’
and how with HP TouchSmart, they could cut down the time they took,
by first choosing based on their figure and preference of designs/designers,
all at the touch of their fingertips.

Once they picked their wedding dress, the system would then narrow down choices for bridesmaids dresses.
It is basically being very forward in a traditional market.

Emilio Sosa (runner up in the latest Project Runway season) was also present,
as he won the HP challenge in the show.
Not sure how many of you have watched it already,
but if you have, you couldn’t have missed how the designers used HP to sketch out their designs before executing them.

There’s also a portion at the end of the season where the designers got to create their own fabric using HP TouchSmart and printers.
Emilio said that as a designer, being able to create your own fabric + print adds an extra layer of exclusivity to one’s creation,
making it even more of their ‘own’ design cos you’re not using a supplied fabric.
He also mentioned that he stopped worrying so much about how he looked on camera,
and truly enjoyed the design process on the show after that episode.

Emilio demonstrating how to create your own textile design using the HP TouchSmart
It was REALLY cool…. i can only imagine having one of my own to come out with some whacky prints!

I managed to meet fashion designer Vivienne Tam,
who spoke about what inspires her – loving nature and colours, and bringing those elements to collaborate with technology.
She said that with such organice details, one would feel light and beauty while having to be immersed in a world of technology and work.
I really liked the way she spoke, softspoken but you could feel how genuine she felt about nature.
<3
She mentioned how adamant she was to the people at HP how the digital clutch had to have a finish as that of a Chinese snuff bottle,
and how pleased she was they managed to achieve it.

Vivienne Tam and i

Alison, Lisa and Saadian who work for Vivienne Tam (hope i’m getting the names right!)
I really fancy Alison’s dress! (obviously from VT)

After the event, i took some time out and went shopping at H&M
The queue to try on clothes, and pay, is madness.
I think i spent more time in a line than picking out what i wanted -_-
Went back to the hotel to get ready for cocktail reception,
before being taken for the show at Paris Theatre (featured before on one of the SATC episodes)

SATC 2 billboards are EVERYWHERE in NY
A stretch limo picked us up to go to the show!
‘Twas my first time in one so i felt really spoilt!
It fit 11 of us in it so the picture you see below is just half of us.

Snapped some pictures while waiting for doors to open.

Myra and i

Elena is a complete sweetheart. I’m gonna miss her!
I spent lots of time with her, talking about life, and she’s quite a character!
Formerly having worked for Vogue Russia, she’s also graduated from Ivy League and decided to move to NYC 3 years ago.

Paris Theatre is right next door to Bergdorf Goodman, whose window displays were showing HP laptops and some outfits from the SATC 2 movie!

There were quite a few celebs in the theatre, Tommy Hilfiger and Ivanka Trump were sitting right in front of me.
At one point i was thinking WHAT would happen if i just reached out my arm and poked Tommy Hilfiger?
But of course i didn’t. Cos i’m crazy. But not THAT crazy -_-
Christian Siriano and Courtney Love were there too, and urm
well i’m not really good at spotting celebs (Elena had to point out the ones in front of my face -_-)

Elena, me and Myra
Russia, Malaysia, Indonesia, hee hee.
I’m not gonna talk about the movie cos i don’t want to spoil it for you all!
Love the styling SO much more in this one, i had to concentrate on the conversation while admiring how all the outfits were put together.

After the movie, everyone was ushered into Bergdorf Goodman where the after party was.
Everything was in an Arabian theme – clothes hanging from the doorways, bellydancers at the entrance, and a buffet spread of yummy Moroccan food.
With cocktails and bubbly of course
For more on the party, you can visit the Bergdorf Goodman blog *here*

Mario Cantone, stand up comedian and aka Anthony Marentino on SATC.
He speaks just like on the show! Snappy and funny, love!

Willie Garson aka Stanford Blatch from SATC
Interesting tidbit i heard on the SATC city tour bus:
Did you know that Willie Garson is actually straight?
And when an interviewer once asked him how it helps with him getting chicks,
he reportedly answered, “Are you kidding me? Chicks LOVE gay guys, so theyall come to me, except i get to sleep with them.”
Hilarious. And very smart.

And of course… most ANTM fans know Nigel Barker *insert: acclaimed fashion photographer*
I saw him earlier on in the party but didn’t think of taking a picture of him,
just stared a bit and thought, “Gosh, he’s really tall!”
Elena convinced me to take a picture, saying who knows when i’ll see him again.
So i went up to him, introduced myself, where i’m from,
and told him that he’s got heaps of fans in Malaysia cos we all heart ANTM.
He was rather chuffed, i think, and said to his friend, “Did you hear that? I have fans in Malaysia!”
Awwwww! *okstopsgushingandthinksofclem*
And that, wraps up what i did on Tuesday.
Damn long right -_-
Will try to blog bout my walkabout in NY on Wednesday but highly unlikely to be this weekend,
as i’ll be fitting in some other posts,
before my flight to London on Sunday night.
I. Am. Going. To. Be. In. Jetlag. Hell.
As my flight back to KL is on Thurs morn (NY time)
So i’m running on NYC-KL-London time in the span of 4 days

i love new york!
ok damn drunk
cannot write now
+ + +
edit:
God, hangover.
Quick one before i run for a hotel lunch and meet the other fashion media + bloggers brought down by HP.
After a gruelling 24-hour journey, Ivy (The Star) and i were sent to Millennium Hotel on Broadway
We were famished, so we walked out to grab some pizza and fajitas
Pottered about Times Square a bit but i wasn’t really into the stores there… (really touristy)
so just snapped some pictures and ducked back into the hotel to rest.
Think i underestimated the jetlag.
Passed out in deep sleep from 8pm-11pm!
Woke up thinking i really CANNOT waste time in NYC
so changed and grabbed a taxi to East Village (cos i read online some bars were there)
Walked around, couldn’t find the specific bar i was looking for (which someone told me was a blessing in disguise cos it’s a shithole, thanks Google haha)
went into a bar and ordered a Guinness
Had a nice conversation with with an Irish bartender Steve
and mentioned i didn’t really want to shop around Times Square.
“No,” he said, “You wouldn’t, you look like a Soho girl to me!”
I laughed cos that’s where i’m planning to go on Wednesday.
Steve told me i might like the corner of Houseton Houston and Orchard on the lower east side
so i made my way there after my 2nd Guinness
Saw a bunch of peeps haning outside a bar,
and asked two guys where i should go
“What kind of music do you like?” asked one
“Rock,” i said
“You’ll probably like Radiocity, just go down this block, turn left and it’ll be down the street.”
“Thanks!” i replied
“Come back here if you get lost!” said the other as i walked off
In the end i DID get lost.
Couldn’t find the place at all!
I walked and walked and everything looked dark
So i went back to the bar and joined them
Turns out their names are Nathan and Ryan, and they’re part-time musicians as well
“Are you in fashion?” asked Nathan
“Yes, i write about it sometimes.”
“It’s painfully obvious.”
Painfully obvious? 0_o
I’m putting it down to the large Vice & Vanity necklace i was wearing last night.
They introduced me to the bartenders who were their friends
and had a shot of whiskey with them
This guy Ben said, “When you ordered the Guinness, we were thinking if you say yes to a shot of whiskey, you’re definitely one of us!”
So nice la they all.
I feel really blesses to have made friends with such nice people on my first night!
Ended up watching them sing behind the bar as they cleaned up for the night
and felt for a second like i was in a movie and felt so much happinness and love!
(Could probably be attributed to the fact i was high).
Made myself leave cos i was getting way too drunk.
And managed to somehow take a bath before passing out.
DAMN i really have to go for lunch now
so will continue this later!
