Givin’ some love to Sephora

Comments (0) Beauty

Beauty department store giant Sephora have been spoiling the KinkyBlueFairy team aplenty by sending us a mystery box every month filled with all sorts of make up; from glittery Stila eyeshadows, to Marc Jacobs’ palettes, Algenist moisturizers, Peter Thomas Roth face masks, and more recently… a whole plethora of the latest EYELINERS.

You should have seen our faces when we opened the box that month.
Screams were muffled and all work halted.

I got Sweet Ee and Jane to take pix of the eyeliners on Jane’s arm,
so from left to right are gel liners, liquid eyeliners, and pencil liners.

I’ve tried most of them and i will give you my own account of which ones are my favourite to use right now. I’m loving:
– #5 (Stila liquid liner in black) because it can draw really thin and really black if you go over twice.
– #9: an automatic pencil liner from Stila that comes in a subtle glittery plum. I use it to on my lower eye line when i’ve applied heavy eyeshadow for a night event. It balances out the heavy top eyeshadow wonderfully. After applying #9, i’d draw a thin line with #5 to pull the whole eye’s look together (i guess a picture would be a better description but i haven’t had time for that!)
– #3: Oh my god this glittery gel liner from Urban Decay is so sick. I loved it so much that i just kept it at home for myself and gave Sweet Ee a separate one for her birthday -_-
– #8: Sweet Ee loves thick black liner and said the Eyeko one is great, i didn’t try that one yet

Sephora had an event for which i wasn’t around for, but knowing them, it would be a ton of fun so i sent Sweet Ee and Joe to go cover it. The below is written by SweetEe:

A couple of weeks ago, Joe and I attended an event by Sephora for us to preview the Holiday 2014 from brands like Stila, Too Faced, Make Up Forever, Marc Jacobs, Bliss, etc.

We were stoked to meet many makeup artists and chosen representatives from the brands that flew here from their homeland to speak to us about their collections. It also felt kinda awesome to to try all the latest products that aren’t available on shelves yet.

Joe was instantly drawn to Marc Jacobs’ booth.

I love Marc Jacobs’ packaging – strong, edgy, and cosmopolitan!

I swear they have one of the best designed eye palette casings ever.

Tarte’s cute and whimsical packaging was too attractive to resist

Ciate’s decoration was mesmerising! Those ornaments you see hanging from the silver tree are actually nail polishes packed in cute little ornament cases with a bow, which is from Ciate’s latest Holiday collection named The Tree Trinket collection. The Tree Trinket collection will be available soon and brings fashionable tree ornaments to another level!

Famously known for their Caviar Manicure, Ciate’s latest collection includes lots of glitter (wee!!!) and Christmas-themed designs. For gel manicure lovers, Ciate also introduced the Geltox Starter Kit that allows you to turn any nail polish into a long-wear gel polish, with a pre-timed LED UV lamp that instantly dries your mani in 60 seconds and maintains shine.

I love Stila’s Holiday Collection! The Holiday Collection for Stila sees a collaboration with Baublebar from the US, and is carefully curated from some of Stila’s best selling products.

Each Holiday Kit comes in a pretty makeup pouch and with a piece of jewellery from Baublebar.  I’m especially in love with the 20th Anniversary Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner Collection. My favourite colour is Amber (burnt orange), cos I’ve never seen it elsewhere.

PA036818

That’s me being too greedy by wanting to try everything. Joe and I agreed that the green, blue and orange liquid eye liner rocks. 🙂 I felt like a little kid with doodles all over my body after play time.

PA036816

Too Faced’s Holiday Collection comes in pretty packaging, and I love the design of La Belle Carousel (box on right) that has five pretty palettes of eye shadows, blushes and bronzers plus their best-selling Better Than Sex Mascara.

All that glitters is gold 😀

Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb perfume. We tried the Spicebomb for men too, which I think works great for girls as well.

Bare Minerals.

Although a young brand, Algenist’s products have gained much popularity in US, and has now reached Malaysia. We tested some of them, and the Complete Eye Renewal Balm is our favourite. An anti-aging product that helps reduce puffiness, fine lines, dark circles and keeps your eye area hydrated all times.

PA036835

NYX is one of my favourite budget makeup lines. They offer tons of choices in eye shadows, lipsticks, etc. I’m hoping to pull off that red on the bottom left.

PA036836

Concealer that looked like yummy dessert.

Hello Kitty is 40 already!

Jane loves Peter Thomas Roth’s masks.

The pumpkin enzyme mask exfoliates with pumpkin enzyme, peels with alpha hydroxy acid, and polishes with aluminium oxide. It smells like real pumpkin too, which made me think of Halloween. 🙂

The packaging design of the new collection from Percy & Reed is just too pretty.

PA036876

Paul Percival (the Percy of Percy & Reed!) was there for hair demonstrations. Joe and I were just standing aside waiting for a picture opportunity with the famous hair stylist, but, he always had someone talking to him!

PA036883

Everybody’s favourite eye palette brand – Urban Decay! Stripped down to the 6 of its most popular neutral shades, Naked Basics is great for those who always carry make up in small clutches.

On right is the new Naked Illuminated, shimmering powder for body and face. I was never a big fan of shimmering powder cos I don’t want to look like a walking glow stick or something, but UD’s shimmering powder proved me wrong. The powder is so fine that the glitter is subtle yet works effectively without being overpowering.

PA036884

The Shadow Box collection has shades from pale to deep, matte to sparkly (including nine bestsellers and three never-before-seen shades). It’s a palette for those who are lazy like me, as it allows you to achieve different kinds of looks from one single palette.

Colourful? Check! Nude shades? Check!

PA036895

I asked the makeup artist from Singapore (sorry I forgot her name) to give me colourful eye makeup cos I can never do it by myself. In a brief 10 minutes, I had purple, blue, green, orange, and other colours I couldn’t identify, all on my lids. Rainbow eyes!

Sephora’s crazy collection of eye shadows palettes, or box of magic as how I would like to call it.

There are plenty more Holiday Collections that will come in store, for more information, check out Sephora’s FB page for updates!
