If you didn’t know, veteran fashion designer Bernard Chandran has celebrities like Lady Gaga, Estelle, Tori Amos and Little Boots donning his pieces.
So you can understand why I was so chuffed to be one of the personalities picked to be involved in the launch of his latest store – Area 27.
Before showing up at the Area 27 store launch,
we all gathered at his Bernard Chandran boutique upstairs.
Bernard + i
Check out the whacky Puma x Bernard Chandran shoes he created
The Sharifah sisters and Bernard
I know Amani the best… and saw all her sisters and her together for the first time.
They’re so SMALL and cutesy cute like you just want to BOTTLE them up (in a non-evil way)
I walked around his boutique and snapped a few pix.
HEART the necklace… heart heart hearT!
Xandria emceed the event that day. Dennis: Lei chou meh ar…
The ori Bali+Mambo troupe from years back! Alvin, me & Sa
The road in at the side of Farenheit mall was shut for the launch,
a stage was set up, and we walked up in pairs for Will and Xan to introduce us and what we were wearing.
Later on, a Proton Neo drove down the road with Bernard himself jumping out.
Okay the number of photographers and media that day was insane.
He then proceeded to hand out spray paint to everyone so we could make our mark on the Neo!
Bernard’s hand + Proton Neo
Amani
This shot of Sa is my favourite pic i’ve ever Instagramed!
This is the Neo halfway thru, by the end of the day it was COMPLETELY covered in colour!

Area 27
Jumpers made from silk scraps Bernard saved from his previous collections.
I love the pink + green one that’s in the front!
Area 27 is in Farenheit 88 mall,
on the side of the building.
Go check it out yourself!
Chelle and i initially thought of doing our Junk Sale more often,
cos so many people asked us to organize another one
after the first one we threw last year.
But we’re just way too busy!
So… we decided to bring it back BIGGER this year in a larger venue so there will be more space and more friends selling their stuff!
Check out the Facebook event page for full list of who’ll be selling on that day!
If you’re a true shopaholic with a heap of cool stuff to sell off that day too,
you can email me at joycethefairy@gmail.com to join us.
If you’re a musician/singer who would like to busk on that day for fun,
do email me too! You can keep the $ you collect!
We want to have a chill out day of shopping, drinks (promos all day long!) and music.
Can’t wait to get rid of all my stuff and play new happy songs from my iPod!
Melium event last Thursday was fab with an EFF.
Clem and i had so much fun neither of us mentioned leaving till it was 11.
(that’s late for us on a weekday night :p)
Designer Teresa asked me to emcee her Autumn Winter show
which i had lots of fun doing!
After a number of times emceeing,
i’ve only just got over my stage fright…
and finally know how to ENJOY being up there instead of being afraid i’ll trip over my high heels, go into shock, etc.
Yeah it took me awhile
and lots of practice
I think being pulled in to give presentations in the office helped a lot too.
Having to talk during pitches in marketing jargon was like learning a new language…
and after that, talking about fashion seemed so EASY.
Like nothing. Heee
Life-sized white foxes placed atop dry ice at the venue
I love being backstage!
I MISS being backstage!
Ismie from Lancome did a beautiful job with my make up
In accordance with the theme, models wore tiny gold fox headbands.
I managed to nab one home
All the models were from Uzbekistan
Nicole, Ming did the make up for Gallo’s lookbook,
William from Toni & Guy did my hair that night
I JUST HAD to put this up!
The dress i wore crumpled slightly before i went on stage,
so i let someone steam iron it, whilst being pulled away from me.
They accidentally burnt me, and it festered for a week,
before unceremoniously popping and oozing out plasma,
grossing the hell outta Clem and i.
This pic was taken right after it popped… to reveal raw flesh underneath!
Hazards of being backstage -_-
So lesson learnt = NEVER LET ANYONE STEAM IRON YOU!

All pix below courtesy of Gallo.
Using the lookbook pix cos i think they look better than the runway ones!
Some of my favourite looks:
I want the red jacket
I need to try this on to see whether it’s too big for small me!
Teresa and all her models
We did a quick lucky draw to give away vouchers worth RM3000 in total!
And an HTC Salsa phone too.
All the models and myself had white foxtails attached to our bums.

I’ve always been impressed by how Topshop managed to take their brand to the runways,
and Topshop Unique has been churning out some amazing pieces the past few years!
I was invited to preview the Topshop Unique collection yesterday, a day before its release
You can view the pieces for yourself at the KLCC or Pavilion outlets from today onwards.
They set aside a rack of Topshop Unique pieces in my size for me to try on,
with Denver, the Topshop stylist, helping me out.
I love you too Topshop!
Love the use of silk, 101 dalmatian inspiration, and 30s-inspired silhouettes.
They’re pieces for anyone, who deep inside, is a little girl who never wants to grow up.
High-waisted dalmation denim shorts
Sailor back on one of the pieces
Dress inspired by the elegant era of 1930s America
Oh i almost got this sheer dalmation cape shirt…
but it didn’t look good on me so i refrained!
Damn my frame is too small for runway pieces sometimes -_-
Sleeveless jumpsuit
Thanks to Topshop Unique for letting me pick out a full outfit from their AW11 collection!
*spoilt*
i chose the sheer black shirt with dalmation print in velvet,
and a lush pair of silk shorts.
With every purchase of any Topshop Unique piece,
you get a free hardcover Topshop notebook + Topshop paperdolls!
The notebook’s blank pages are great, with funky graphic insertions in between.

Last night was Kenny’s birthday celebration no. 2 at Zeta bar.
I was so UP FOR IT i suggested we all after party.
Clem said, no… you’re going to regret it tomorrow TRUST ME. So we bought McD’s, went home and slept at 4:30am.
Next morning i had to wake up at 11am for a shoot with Undilah
and went there feeling tired and hungover and damn Clem was right
I was supposed to pick a piece of jewelry to go with my outfit
and watched Lisa (whom i’d just met for the first time) take pieces out of her bag.
At first i wasn’t too taken but THEN i noticed some stones were really unique!
I mean, i learnt a lot of types of semi-precious stones when Ash was working on them,
but there were deep hues and stone depths i wasn’t familiar with today.
I love the dark blue agate above, it makes me think of deeeeeep sea.
On the left is fluorite, bottom right are pearls.
Mosaic Turquoise
Faceted Glass beads are sparkly and tempting
I LOVED the colour of these Faceted Iridescent Crystals, natural disco balls!
Now that i’m looking at the picture again i feel like emailing Lisa to save it for me -_-
These colourful Faceted Mixed Agate beads were really pretty (so much nicer in real life!) strung together. Bought this one for rm130. I foresee myself playing with it when i’m distracted in a meeting.
And then i died for this crystal necklace.
It’s so shinyyyyyyyy *plays with it*
and felt like a metallic scarf on my neck *love*
I bought it for rm399.
Checkout my hungover smile
Next to me is Lisa, the talented tiny artist behind Oxoloco.
You can check out her website *here* but it’s nothing compared to seeing everything in front of you.
