I’m force-reading some malay pantun online and trying to translate it cos my malay is so freaking bad now!!!
Obviously it’s for work or else i wouldn’t be doing this

I’m just going to blame it on early education in UK

I’m supposed to be the more Malaysian one here, so i confidently answered
“Hmm jiwa is soul… and belaian is swinging. So it means swinging of the soul.”
Later on, i was proudly telling someone how i translated for Adam
“Joyce. Belaian is soothing. *Buaian* means swinging.”
“Oh YA HOR. CraP motherf…”
So yeah.
Never ask me for directions.
And never ask me to translate malay.

I have the same problem with Chinese and I spent 12 years learning the damn language. And I’m Chinese. Well for the most part anyways. I do not think I deserve to be Chinese.
