Joyce’s First Accident
I’m getting increasingly lazy to repeat the whole story to those who ask
It gets shorter and shorter with each version so i’ll just blog it

It was 3 am and it just rained. I’d spent the last few hours doing work at home and was driving to Smellie’s cos my pc has another problem (yet again)
So there i was, daydreaming (or is it nightdreaming? But that just sounds retarded) as i sped down the slope unto the highway
By the time i neared the corner, i realised i was going way too fast and snapped out of my zone
The scene keeps on replaying in my head everytime i stare into space or close my eyes
Everything went slow motion, which was really weird
The bushes slapping into my windscreen
Seeing concrete and somehow avoiding it to the left
Thank God.
If i’d gone straight, i’d crashed into the flyover pillar
If i’d gone right, i’d gone straight into the fucking monsoon drain
I remember thinking,
“Oh GREAT.
I can’t believe i’m having an accident now…”
as i was having it
So weird
Even in the midst of an accident, my character has time for sarcasm
When the car stopped, i stoned for a bit, shaking like a damn leaf
There were two main words screaming in my head at that point in time -
WORK!
and
TOWTRUCK!
Fuckidy fuck fuck, i have to do my workkkkk
Shit i guess i need a towtruck… i don’t know what towtruck to call!
Oh MAN, i wonder what time i can get over this and go home to continue work
Great, i’m so gonna get it. I can’t believe i gotta get this towed out, OHHHH the trouble i’m in!!!
When i got out, i noticed this car had stopped to see whether i was okay
It was this young malay couple who were really helpful and sweet
The girl looked awfully like Dzu *tripfantastic* but not
She: “Are you okay?”
Me: “You look really familiar!”
She gave me a crooked smile as i mentally slapped myself for impulsively sounding like i wanted to pick her up

Prollie scared her into thinking i’d banged my head in the car or something
In three minutes flat, there were eight vehicles surrounding the area
Most of them were towtruck people competing to tow my car + the neighbourhood police
The policemen thought i was underaged and asked me to call my parents - “Ah, panggil ibu bapa.”
I answered back in shock, “No! It’s so late! They’re sleeping now!” 
Then they asked for my IC and didn’t give me anymore flak when they saw i’m 23
“It’s the hair,” TL said when i told him about it
I called Smellie frantically and he couldn’t wake up

I called my brother and he couldn’t wake up as well

I couldn’t call my dad cos he’s outstation
I wouldn’t call my mom cos we’d both just panic together
So i called TL, to wake the boyfriend up
TL wasn’t home, he’s just about to leave the Channel [V] office and came to my rescue instead
*phew*
All the tow truck people were inquisitively walking around my car and inspecting the damage
So i hurriedly locked it lest something went missing
I figured that whatever damage my car had gone through, it could not beat the 8k worth of fashion loans inside.

The only thing i could think about that night was how lucky i was
AND NO MORE SPACING OUT while going down slopes and rushing to Smellie’s place
As TL and i watched the towtruck park my car in my neighbourhood, i said
“Luckily i wasn’t wearing my pajamas wei… and luckily i was wearing a bra.”
Sometimes i drive straight to Smellie’s in my home clothes
“Well, maybe if you weren’t wearing a bra, they would have towed it for free! 
“
“TL!” my voice shrieked through the silent night air on the street
Car Feng Shui

Alot of unfortunate accidents have been occuring of late

A guy friend (whom i think would like to remain anonymous) got into a car crash two weeks back
I drove to meet him upon receiving his stress call, to see him sitting at the side of the road with his face buried in his hands
Now, to see an almost-30-year-old doing that is, well, distressing
Then his car managed to auto-lock with his keys inside and when he tried opening the door, the alarm went off, attracting even more attention to Mr. Red & Distressed, badly crashed car and little girl at the side of the road
“Luckily i’m wearing a cap…” i said, pulling it lower over my face

Tonight, Smellie’s engine was overheating so badly the needle was pointing after the ‘red’ danger mark
Damn stressed hoping insanely that it’d make it back to the apartment without konking out, all the while smelling something burning
It actually died when we were 5 minutes from home and we lagi stressed
Then it managed to start again
“Maybe i’m a car jinx…”

My first accident was due to spacing out while going to hot into a corner, like you did. Except that I ended up hitting a car with a family with three small kids inside 0.o
Anyways, insurance will take care of the car, the main thing is you’re okay (and have learnt a lesson). Be careful next time.
