As is customary of the Mai Tradition,
Fai threw a BBQ for his birthday last Sat at Aps’ place again.
Ate heaps of lamb and chicken!

Ben Hon decided to make an appearance that night.
When i arrived, i said hi to everyone,
then spotted him sitting meekly in the corner and shouted,
“OH MY GOD IT’S BEN HON. BEN HON! HERE!? IN PERSON!”
Because the basket didn’t even come for mine nor Ashley’s birthday last year.
So we’ll never let him forget it. For life.

beating Dinesh Michan who took that award last year.

Ever since coming back from Shanghai last Friday,
Clem and i have been holed up at home,
enjoying being indoors too much to venture out.
Which is terrible and lazy, i know.
But it feels SO GOOD to just stay at home, make drinks, watch DVDs and just hang out with each other sometimes.
I couldn’t help thinking, “I can’t believe it, my favourite thing to do on a Saturday night is stay in with Clem.” 
To give us some credit, we did some major running around Shanghai for a full week,
so much so till i got blisters which he bought plasters for.
Not knowing how to say ‘plaster’ in mandarin to the girl in the pharmacy,
he played charades and acted out something cutting him,
blood spurting out with a wooshing sound and sticking something on with a smile.
She immediately handed him a box of band-aids.
Another reason i’ve been so reluctant to go out, is a new book i’m currently stuck on.
After finishing The Last Empress on my last day in Shanghai (i thought it apt to read a book about China while in China!),
i couldn’t find a single magazine nor book in English in the Huang Zhou airport and resorted to Clem’s World Without End.
Previously, i’d turned my nose up at his book, not comprehending what could be so interesting about life in the 1300s.
And he was trying his best to get me to read it.
Now that i’ve started, i’ve been making excuses for him to entertain himself with something other than me so i can curl up on the bed to read.
2 days and over 300 pages later, i was ignoring his pleas for me to get out of bed so we could go out and eat.
After he tried for an hour, StephTheVolcano smsed me out of nowhere,
saying we were having an impromptu girlie meet up.
I suddenly found some enthusiasm to get out of the apartment and jumped out of bed to take a shower.

cos my dress was black and my gold necklace looked like the harp thing.
I told the girls a revelation i had in Tioman.
Me: I know what i want to be when i grow up!
SpankyCammy: Aren’t… you already grown up
Me: No. *denial* I want to own a guesthouse by the beach… or in the forest when i grow up!
It’d be awesome.
I can decorate each room in all the crazy ways i want.
And Clem can help out.

The Freeform family (current, and ex-staff 
went for seafood dinner for Myra and SarChan’s birthday this week.
You know what?
I was looking through my old posts and found we went there a year ago for the same reason as well.
Talk about creatures of habit!
Was talking to JiaWei who told me she’d just left a couple of months back,
and she was happily babbling like a brook about some freelance project she’s landed herself after quitting.
I went, “Oh good for you! Me, hmm, wondering what to do with my life…”
JW: Oh! And i also just started a jewelry line!
Me: …Thanks Jia Wei, that just makes me feel SO much better…

Everyone was intentionally out of tune and beat with each other,
shrieking, squealing, howling, it was but anything that could be considered as singing.

I thought of writing a post summing up all i’ve done the past year.
But then i thought it was a bit cheesy.
And i got crazy busy.
And then it ended as what it started out with – a thought.
A fleeting thought.
Really no time, even to blog properly!
Been working on this project called LEFTBLOCK (consisting of Jacinta, Chelle and i)
Earlier this year, we started out with spending 8-10 hours meeting up every week
for a bigger project we’re planning for in July.
Then just recently, we got an event project for next week so we’ve been scrambling for it like headless chickens.
Other than that, i’m juggling my advertorials, events and normal blogposts.
Slept 2 and a half hours on Monday morning,
was on the go ALL day yesterday,
don’t even remember falling asleep last night,
just recall climbing into bed!
Today was the same.
Meeting, sourcing, brainstorming,
rush rush rush.
Came home, planned to nap,
so i’d be more alive for birthday eve dinner and drinks.
Then some emails came in about advertorial adjustments,
other emails to attend to,
so GONE is my plan for a nap!
Other than that,
I managed to confirm and pay for my flights to London (from end of May till early July) just today
Europe for summer, i can’t wait!
I guess, this is my birthday present to me
Okay i have to run off and get ready!!!!

so i brought it out of the car for him to see.
Also had to explain why it was in my car.
