Cuevolution Official Launch Party

* Written by Weng Yee *

One Friday Joyce and I had the pleasure of attending Cuevolution‘s Official Launch Party at The Studio at KL in Publika. Cuevolution is a online boutique founded in July 2014 by former scientific researcher Lim Ai Chiin. The launch party was an opportunity for everyone to have a look at some of the pieces being brought in from around the globe; as well as meet the designers behind them speak about their collections.

Cuevolution brings in international designers Christina Sabaiduc and Rory Hutton from the UK, and Maricel Pamintuan from Brunei. The platform also teams up with local designers Shana Azooi of AZOOI bags, Cassey Gan, and Valerie Yap of Valkyerie Jewellery to produce pieces exclusive to Cuevolution.com.

Christina Sabaiduc (on right) caught our eye right away with her mesmerizing silk piece.

Christina shared with us about how she collaborated with photographer Jo Holland, who specialises in light based dark room photography, to create images which consisted of close up shots of seemingly average objects around.

The process involved using an enlarger in a dark room to expose the pattern straight onto photo film without the use of a camera.

The artwork on this dress was created from frozen contact lens solution. As they were ‘taking’ the photo, the solution was slowly melting thus creating movement – something that can’t be recreated thus giving more life to it.

Christina aims for versatility in her pieces, and exemplified various ways in which one could wear her silk robe. Cleverly-placed loops, and drapes in sheaths allows the piece to be worn long and short, tied to look casual or formal, and even into a pseudo playsuit with shorts!

I must (and will!) say that we’re looking pretty rocking from when we first started working together in 2013.
Showing up to the office in our pajamas and our bed heads XD

Thanks for an awesome year babe, i must have seen you more than ANYONE ELSE LAST YEAR.
Here’s to a freaking fabulous year for KBF <3

Dude & the Duchess SS15 – défilé II

For Spring/Summer 2015, Creative Director Jonathan Liang merges sportswear chic with the fantastical inspirations of fairies, drawn from folklore of the “Fairy Ring” (circles of mushrooms created by fairies dancing in and out of this realm) and Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Bringing foreword Dude & the Duchess’s timeless minimal shapes into the forefront of the collection; clean lines, neat folds and unique textures give way to springtime versatility, with a distinct sportswear influence and the power of basics.

Among vivid colours and the sophisticated energy of the season, circular lines, silhouettes and embroidery will play a large role in the new upcoming collection.

Alexander Wang X H&M releases worldwide on Nov 6th

I popped by the Alexander Wang for H&M media preview at their Lot 10 outlet. It’s really just an excuse to hang out with the other fashion media, feast on yummy canapes from Nathalie’s Gourmet (i headed straight for the food first), play dress up, take pictures, laugh, and groove to the same MJ song they played over and over again (thanks for making it stick in my head guys…). This is one of those fun get-togethers that constitutes as work :D

alexander-wang-x-h&m-1

I got coerced into trying on a couple of outfits, wasn’t feeling very up to it at first cos i’d just finished a trying week in Sydney and the Love Bonito event was the night before…

alexander-wang-x-h&m-9

Ok that bandage top is really hot. The way it’s cut gels perfectly with the curve’s of one’s body… i might just get it.

I’d do the leggings on the left for sure

New TV Show Fashion Bloggers Debuts!

I was flown to Sydney for a few days to attend the launch event of Fashion Bloggers, a new TV show by The Style Network in Australia. It debuted on October 15th and follows the lives of 5 of Australia’s top fashion bloggers!

In Malaysia, Fashion Bloggers airs at 10pm every Wednesday night on Channel E! (Ch712 on Astro).

We stayed at Fraser Suites on Kent Street. It was a very comfortable room in which i spent most of my hours in working! The only time i went out in Sydney was to see my cousin for dinner, interview the bloggers, and attend the launch event at night.

It was my first time meeting Adrian of SuperAdrianMe.com and he ended up being my partner in party time.

My lunch, it was a mere few hours after our breakfast and i was the only one who unabashedly finished the whole meal… i was literally starving by then and will admit not that i am one of those annoyingly skinny people who eat a lot.

My clutch is from KLUTCHED, it’s stocked in Shoes Shoes Shoes and M Store in KL, Galeries Lafayette in Paris, and Mandarin Gallery in Singapore.

I’m wearing earrings and dress from Shoes Shoes Shoes.
The dress actually comes with separate zippered pieces for the top, and a flared bottom, but i decided against it for the look that night.
