The Good, the Bad, and the Crappy.

Space was the new kid on the block on Asian Heritage Row the past couple of months.
Euphoria launched today (M.O.S., in Sunway and non-smoking)
And Cloth and Clef on Changkat Bukit Bintang opens its doors for a soft launch tomorrow.

Clubs and bars aside, i took an hour to drive from Jalan Bukit Bintang to KLCC today.
Shocker, i know.
I’m still beefing from it.

Who said people in KL drive less ever since the petrol price increased?!
Utter rubbish, i thought, as i inched along Jalan Sultan Ismail.
“So. Fucking. Jam. Can. Die,” i smsed RowdyRudy as he waited for me in Chinoz.

ugh.
I had five mins to sip a drink before we headed off for Beauty and the Beast (the musical) in KL Convention Centre.

We were so disappointed.
So. So. Disappointed.

You know i adore Disney.
And Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourites.
I know the songs by heart.
I know the tunes by heart.
I know all the damn lyrics by heart.

But… the musical just didn’t *do* it for me y’know?

The interpretation of the cartoon movie into a musical was pretty cool at certain parts, but that’s to be expected.
I expected mind-blowing ‘phwoar’ moments.
I didn’t get any of that.

Was it just me?
Couldn’t be!
I wasn’t that tired from work and i’d been looking forward to the musical for the past week!

“Is it me?” i asked RR
“No -_- That really blew ass.”

My problems with tonight was:

1. I realised whoever was sitting at the side couldn’t possibly see the cast when they were acting there, cos i could just about view them and i was 7 seats from the side.

2. Coughing orchestra.

Oh jesus. There were random people coughing every two seconds after the interval, i kid you not. Even the people in front of me were heard commenting, “Is there a flu going around?!”

All i could hear was *cough*… *cough*from another side*… *cough*cough*the other side*… *cougH*behind me*… *cough*kid in front*

Funny thing was people who were previously bitching in front? One of them started coughing too -_-

Oh. And kids and babies started crying.

Good GOD. I know B&TB is a children’s show… but if your child’s going to start wailing, don’t bring them to the musical! Or at least, don’t be selfish and take them out!

3. Sound was bad.

Mike failed a few times. And overall sound wasn’t great. I won’t look highly upon musicals held in KLCC again (my first time watching there, it’s always been Istana Budaya so far, in msia anyway)

I don’t know. The ending was cheesy, people laughed when the beast died cos his last breath sounded funny. The part where he transformed from a beast to a human consisted of him being spun around, which brought to my mind the Exorcist.

We walked out of the venue feeling dissatisfied and going, “MMMF.”

pah.

“I think it’s after going for West End and Broadway, musicals will never live up to those.”
“Of course, i know that you cannot compare, but at least the others i went to in kl left me with a bit of that ‘ahhh’ feeling, even if not a lot.”
“Shall we walk through the outside part of inside?”
he queried - changing the subject quickly as we always do - gazing at the many people walking indoors.
“Inside. I’m wearing my nice shoes today and it just rained -_-”

We consoled ourselves with drinks at the Mandarin after that.
“What are you going to have?”
“Guinness. I’m dying for a Guinness.”

“Dammit.”
“What?”
“Now i’ll look like a pussy next to you if i order wine.”

“Without belief, there is nothing.” - Peter Pan

Peter Pan The Musical

I’m so busy and it’s depressing i have to wake up early on a rainy Saturday morning to do work!
Rush blogging this now.

Went for the opening of Peter Pan The Musical @ Istana Budaya last night.
I thought i’d be late as i had so much work i HAD to finish some before going out.
Incidentally, i wore this fairy necklace IceCalvin bought me while he was sourcing for a shoot, and a lace-trimmed fairy-like dress i got from Bali early this year.

So i felt soddof cheesie.

But the musical was fantastic!
They’re obviously more focused on being dancers, so their singing isn’t terribly flawless.

I was SO HAPPY WATCHING IT.

I was so happy (i really didn’t expect this), i actually teared during the part they were flying to Neverland.

>_<

Never would i have imagined i would cry with happiness watching Peter Pan
Whatevah

You know like how during some musicals, there’d be a few parts where it’s a bit draggy?
Peter Pan wasn’t like that, thank god!
Thinking i was being bias, i asked QueenKanch, “Well i thought so, but is it just me cos i’m being bias?”
She said probably due to the fact it’s a musical for kids as well, that’s why it has to be so constantly entertaining.

Their singing, dancing and allover mood was so infectious, i think the last time i experienced such a happy clappy musical was Mamma Mia.

Some of the staff were giving out Peter Pan balloons as we walked out of the hall after the show.

Oh! Peter Pan ballooon!I must have!

I want!!!

I bounded up to a malay lady, “Can i have a balloon please?”
“No.” She stared at me, “They’re only for kids.”

0_o…

I couldn’t even move. I stoned there as QueenKanch urged me along.

Only for kids?
I felt like the white bunny in the old Trix ads.
Where he tries to get the Trix, and the kids go, “Trix are for kids.”
Poor bunny! Whoever said the bunny wasn’t allowed Trix?

And whoever said adults aren’t allowed balloons?!

It’s discrimination!

I beefed about the Peter Pan balloon all the way to the car in between my bouts of joy of watching it.

Peter Pan The Musical

Went to TAG at the Loft, Zouk after that and it was SO crowded i headed off to Wabisabi instead.
NickIsTaller wanted to pick up his girlfriend and i said i’d stay in Wabi if Odin was there.

Odin was there, ha ha.
Wabi to him is like Somo to me.

TattleShantini, Willie, AhHoong and LicketyLicia were there too.

AhHoong and LicketyLicia damn cannot make it.
They tried to make me drink, to which i took a few sips and AhHoong went, “What is this?!”

LL: I moved!
Me: You moved to where?
LL: I moved la!
Me: Yes… to where la?
LL: Kinkybluefairy dot net!
Me: … you mean *i* moved or *you* moved?
LL: *I* moved! You moved so i moved also! We move together from Taman Tun la! Hahaha!!!

I couldn’t stop laughing at her.
Damn 7 jiao tut wei.

Then WabiColin and i started bantering non-stop.
I can’t remember everything we said, but it was pretty stupid till Odin slammed himself against the chalkboard laughing.

Ok back to work.
Tonight i’ll be going for a black tie Carat Club dinner with RingoCheesie; then i’m dragging her for Junk + Heineken’s Impulse at Terrace Bar, Zouk; then i’ll try persuading her along with TattleShan and i for Twentyone.

I haven’t told her yet.
Maybe she’ll read about it here first ha ha!

Impulse tonight!

Ok work.
I haven’t packed for Bali yet -_-

Standard.
