KLue + 5, Fairy + 4

Last Sunday (damn it feels like DAYS ago but kononnya, just a couple of days 0_-) i had to go to Sky Bar for KLue Plus 5 in the evening.

Okay, wait, let’s start from morning.
Morning, i woke up like clockwork cos i’m so used to getting so little sleep i woke up at 8 am -_-
God knows why the DAY i can sleep in more, i wake up earlier than usual!
Forced myself to go back to sleep cos i really needed the rest (i’s so tired i was freaking hallucinating in the office last week!!!)

Woke up at 1pm, got ready and went to FoxyLisa’s place to see her little family
She brought back the harness i ordered from Norwegian Wood
And i think it’s good i went to pick it up
Else i’d never take the time to go see her!

Lil Claire is not so ‘lil anymore
She’s got this wicked Elmo toy which i want to buy for myself…

We placed the Elmo in front of Lil Claire to entertain her
*i* ended being enthralled by Elmo telling stories and asked how much it costs
The freaking Elmo costs RM350!
Shoes, or Elmo?
Shoes… or Elmo?
I thought to myself silently

Lil Claire came along in the car

KLue + 5

Went to Sky Bar before 5 pm (the event was 5-8pm) to chill before guests started arriving
I spotted something that looked strangely… kiddy… and very much… like a TENT!
With markers, childrens’ books, pillows and soft toys underneath!
I got so excited to go into it straight away, i almost crawled under the Sky Bar table to get to it cos chairs were blocking me
“Wait, Joyce, I’m moving the chair,” scolded SarChan as she saw me about to go under the table, “WAIT!”

I tell you, the moment i got into that tent, i was the happiest person in the whole hotel.
Screw the nice long dress i wore.
Acting like an adult flew out the window as i plopped myself down to bask in kiddy glory.

KLue + 5

KLue + 5

And oh!
How nice it was so flip through children’s books withouth wary glares from kids or their parents
Cos i always have to shove at the kid’s section in Kinokuniya  :p

KLue + 5

Seems the tent was a part of KLue Plus 5
I thought they did a good job of the tent
But they could’ve have used colourful cloth to make the tent
Tsk, should have asked the Tent Experts that SpankyCammy and i am :xsilly:

But what undoubtedly gave that tent extra points was…

the insane view…

KLue + 5

Walau.
What kind of kid’s tent has that view, you tell me?

KLue + 5

KLue + 5

Daniel wouldn’t put the Care Bears book down -_-
After that i caught pictures of Care Bear pictures he took with his digicam haha!

Aieee, i went on and on about the tent till i forgot to talk about the event >.<
Admitedly, i stayed in the tent alone for the longest time - resting on the pillows, sipping my drink and reading the Archies till Myra popped her head in and said we had to socialise :p

That event in Sky Bar was the first of KLue Plus 5, a monthly event where every guest we invite are from different industries and they have to invite 5 friends from their industry
Whether it be kickboxing, media, F&B, advertising, etc

It’s a pretty cool idea, built so that you’d meet individuals you wouldn’t usually meet outside your circle and party group
I did meet a few new ppl that day whom i plan to call out in the future to party with us :)

+ + + + + +

This Friday, come party at Werner’s for Heineken Impulse   :xlaughing:

Donate and Shop at Chic Charity!

UOX Play is happening this Saturday at CapSquare and Tongue in Chic will be having a charity booth there.

Not just any old charity booth, but we’re imploring girls and guys to donate clothes they don’t wear anymore, but are too nice to simply donate to an orphanage or Salvation Army.

All the clothes you donate will be sold at the Chic Charity booth for RM5-15 per piece.
All money (every single cent) will be going to the Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO).
The whole point of it is too get rid of clothes you don’t wear anymore, buy other shopaholic’s clothes for cheap, AND give to those in need at the same time!

Read all the details *here*

Please please post this on your blogs, tell your friends to donate/shop and DO COME have fun at the whole event this Saturday!

Slutting It For October

Foldees

Remember GarfieldChak… Well, he left a giant company last year to venture out and start Foldees with his friends.

Foldees
www.foldees.com

You know how Threadless works?
Where you can submit designs and best ones win prizes and get made into actual products for sale on the site?
If you don’t know then… damn.

Damn out la you. (Also read: Joyce is lazy to explain)

Foldees works the same way, except it’s with greeting card designs.
They also have a service where they send out cards for you.
Cos admittedly, it’s nice receiving physical cards… but a real bitch sending them out by post ourselves.
So now Foldees can be your bitch to send them out for you.

Foldees

Anyhoo, they’re having a contest just for Christmas (damn, coming so soon..! Christmas, i mean :p)
Top 10 rated card design winners get to CHOOSE what they want to win, which sounds pretty awesome to me.

As if a nifty gadget ain’t enough, top 3 designs get cash in USD too.
0_o

1st prize - US$600 + 1st dibs into Santa’s Bag’o’Gadgets
2nd prize - US$300 + 2nd dibs into Santa’s Bag’o’Gadgets

Canon Goes Green

Canon Goes Green

Canon has taken a pledge that, for every picture of the environment/natural surroundings submitted, a tree will be planted in Padang Kota Damansara, a reserve area in Klang Valley this Sunday 19th October 2008.
An aim of up to 2,500 trees are to be planted, and they’ve received enough pictures already.

I think it’s a beautiful project… have a surf through their website to view the entries or get info on how to attend the tree-planting this Sunday.

I was halfway blogging about this and was searching up a picture in my pc to send when i read that they’ve got enough entries already.

Shite. I shoulda read the email sooner.

 :xbummed:

Still, a very pretty project and it’s so refreshing to see so many pictures of nature (which i adore!)

If you’re looking for somewhere to spend this Sunday night with something to do, come to The Apartment at KLCC   :xhappy:

I’ve already promised to go.

After Our’s

A bunch of us trooped down to KLPAC to watch ClaudiaOnCrack aka Claudia Low act in After Our’s last night.

The play was quite shocking and i enjoyed watching something that really pushed the boundaries here in KL.
Hmm i got quite offended when some high school boys were making gagging noises when the gay scenes came on though. :p

After the play, we hung around for Clauds to come out but i swear, she took so long cos all these fanboys wanted to take pictures with her. :xlaughing:

I saw Helena and as i was hugging her, asked, “Oh, are you involved in the play?” cos she seemed to know everyone around.

She went, “Hmm, well… i directed it…”

 :xshocked:

This is the part i want to bang my head on the wall cos that’s how blur i am.

 :xwhatevah:

Anyway, if you’re not away during this long Merdeka weekend, you should go watch it (it runs till Sunday).

You get to see Clauds sit in bed topless.
…Okay fine, with a duvet covering her front.
But you also get to see a girl fingering Clauds.
…Okay fine, they’re ‘acting’ but erm yeah, it was still very visually impactful.

I think my favourite actors for this play was Clauds (cos of shock factor) and Nick. :xlaughing:

Tried blogging about this last night but after two Guinnesses, i passed out at my pc till 4am.
Blog also tak jadi.

Anyway, stolen off their FB group:

“After Our’s is an edgy relationship comedy about several couples from all walks of life having troubled conversations after sex.. It’s a humorous, yet honest look at the complexity of modern day relationships.

Through witty dialogue and compromising situations, the play takes us from the beginning of a relationship to the aftermath of one, examining every stage in between while somehow finding humor within the drama, heartache and confusion of it all.

All the couples that is presented are of different backgrounds. They include sex with an ex, sexual exploitation of a friend, coming to terms of homosexuality, teenage experimentation and one night stands. Each segment is interesting in their own right, as they reveal raw emotions and pain.

With the variety of scenarios and emotions, one is likely to find a segment that strikes a familiar chord in their own personal lives.”

After Ours' cast

Lesedi Halahala (omg i love his name, Sarah and i can’t stop laughing), Joy Lynn Teh, Alia Nabil, Helena Foo, Claudia Low, Nick Davis
George Bull isn’t in the pic

Haha do something different and go watch it this weekend. I only paid RM25 for my ticket.

Doing the Karen Cheng Pose

I’ve been reading Karen Cheng’s blog for… years.
Can’t even remember how long now but i stumbled upon it through random clicking and found myself returning to it every other day.
Which is really strange cos despite me being a blogger, i’m not a blog-stalker.

Admittedly, i stalk hers.
Hi, my name is Joyce and i stalk Karen Cheng.

 :xshy:

I love her optimism and reading about a life so different from mine, which i think is the whole purpose of reading a blog - peeking into someone else’s life and cultivating joy from it.

I love that she appreciates random leaves like me.

Karen Cheng

I coo at pictures of her healthy food (prollie cos i cannot cook to save my life).

Karen Cheng

I’ve been following her sons Sean and Callum growing up, as she writes on their holidays, adorable things they say, frustration in parenthood, fun activities they do together and ‘Firsts’ in a lot of everything - first day of kindergarten, first time this, first time that.

Perhaps her writing on her children are my favourite part of all.

Karen Cheng

I marvel at the drawings they conjure and the toys they make.

Karen Cheng

When i first noticed Karen linked me on her blog a couple of years ago, i excitedly told AshleyTheMonkey about it.
“Hey, do you read Karen Cheng?”
“No…”
“Oh. Well she’s this blogger right, *blablabla rambles on about Karen Cheng*… and she linked me *beams* :xpleased:
“… oohkay you psycho.”

Ash couldn’t fathom why i was so excited over an Australian blogger i’ve never in my life linking me.
>.<

Then one day, Karen emailed me about her Karen Cheng pose.
The first line in my reply email back was that her blog made me want to have kids -_-
She said it’s my hormones talking  0_o

Anyway, back to the Karen Cheng pose (read the link then you’d understand better!), she started up a Facebook Group for fun - to let other people post up pictures of themselves taken in the reflection of a mirror to show what they’re wearing/looking for the day.

If you think that this is merely a narcissistic act, stop right there.

Karen took it much further. With the help of supportive bloggers and friends, she held a charity event for the Singapore Red Cross when she flew there last month.
They raised app. SGD2,000 in 2 hours for the fund, all derived from the fun of taking pictures of yourself in the mirror.

Who would’ve thought ey?   :xwinky:

Karen Cheng

She’s got Dottie and Stephie of Fashionation to do it, and now she’s got me too :xsilly:

Fairy Attempting Karen Cheng Pose

It’s a bit blur cos i took a quick shot right before SarChan knocked on my room door to walk downstairs together for the MTV Asia Awards.
You can see the heap of scarves piled on the bed cos i packed stuffed them into my bag in a hurry!

You know what’s pretty coincidental?
I was surfing fashion blogs and Diana of Hot Mint & Chocolate in Jakarta has the same skirt too!

You can join in the fashion fun by uploading your pics on the Doing the Karen Cheng Facebook group. Check out the other pictures there!
